Daniel grew up in Ottawa, Canada, and in the Boston and Detroit areas before attending Yeshiva University in New York City, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history (magna cum laude) in 1985.  Daniel next attended law school, graduating from Harvard Law School in 1988.  Between 1988 and 2003, Daniel worked at several leading New York City law firms, including Simpson Thacher & Bartlett; Kasowitz, Benson, Torres and Friedman; and Willkie Farr & Gallagher. The bulk of his work involved complex insurance disputes (including disputes concerning earn-outs in the insurance sale context; reinsurance; environmental coverage; and insurance run-off), product liability defense throughout the country, and contractual disputes between and among national corporations and financial institutions.

Having married a Floridian, Daniel relocated to Boca Raton in 2003 as a senior counsel in the Boca Raton office of national law firm Quarles & Brady LLP.  He subsequently joined the Boca Raton office of Greenberg Traurig, P.A. as counsel, and then joined Akerman, LLP as a partner.  In Florida, Daniel has served as a go-to lawyer for New York companies seeking local guidance, and for local and regional companies and individuals seeking litigation assistance ranging from legal malpractice defense to business break-up disputes.  Along with his colleagues, he has managed, tried and/or arbitrated matters in Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Jacksonville, and in New York.

Daniel is a practitioner to whom colleagues and clients have turned for advice on many complex issues, and to handle the “expert” portion of large matters.  During his career, he has worked with experts on securities, insurance, water chemistry, statistics, financial products, real estate, economics, accounting, money damages and actuarial matters. Daniel and his wife Sara are proud parents of three children.  They live in Boca Raton and are active in the Boca Raton community.  Daniel co-chairs the Civil Practice Committee of the South Palm Beach County Bar Association.  He also has provided pro bono legal services through the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County. Daniel is chairman of the governing committee of Boca Raton Synagogue-West, where he also is the ba’al k’riah.

When he is not lawyering or enjoying his family, friends and community, Daniel enjoys non-fiction, the outdoors and sports.
